Mrs. Perry’s 3rd grade PACE students celebrated National Bubble Gum Day by researching how bubble gum is made, experimenting with how long the flavor lasted and measuring how big a bubble they could blow using different brands of bubble gum. They ended the day completing a gum ball sudoku puzzle.

The French Camp Elementary School parent of the year for 2020-2021 is Mrs. Sherry Curington. Drawing from a love of children and an affinity for hands-on projects, Mrs. Sherry has made numerous visits to the FCE kindergarten class this year and led students in several educational activities. Mrs. Sherry’s projects have included making lemonade for the letter L, constructing homemade paper for the letter P, and manipulating “Rapunzel Hair” out of sugar for the class fairy tale unit. The students love when she comes to visit, and they have learned many things from her this year.
Mrs. Sherry, her husband Mac, and son Jacob, live in Winona, MS, and they are currently in the process of moving to the French Camp community. Mrs. Sherry’s daughter, Crystal Ray, teaches kindergarten at FCE, and her oldest granddaughter, Kinley Kate is a Pre-K student at FCE. Mrs. Sherry also has a second granddaughter, Kambrie, who is 2 years old. Thank you Mrs. Sherry for all that you do for students at French Camp Elementary School!

The French Camp Elementary paraprofessional of the year is Heather McIntire. She has been a teacher assistant at FCE for three year. Choctaw County School District is where her education began. She started school at Weir Attendance Center in kindergarten and graduated as salutatorian of the first graduating class of Choctaw County High School. She says that Choctaw County Schools have played a vital role in her education and she intends to make the same impact on the students that she has today. She says that each student that she has had the opportunity to work with holds a special place in her heart and that it inspires her to watch them learn.
Mrs. McIntire is kind and compassionate and treats her students as she would her own. She actively seeks to make them not only better students but better people. She goes above and beyond what is expected of her as an assistant. Her students love and respect her. Mrs. McIntire jumps in wherever and whenever she is needed with a smile on her face. She has a servant heart and it shines daily as she works with our students and staff. She says that it is an honor to be the FCE Paraprofessional of the Year.
